Data Optimization

Delivering the control and visibility firms need to optimize their data usage and manage their costs.

Data Management use case

Full visibility and control over every data dollar

As internal and external scrutiny of data sourcing and consumption increases, Prime EDM enables financial firms to respond confidently by delivering a comprehensive, end-to-end view of their data — combining sources from different providers into a true gold copy, so firms can maximize data quality while managing control over data spend, through data control, usage history and trend analysis, vendor cost review and improved vendor contract compliance.

Data Quality & Request History

Dashboards allow business users to monitor the overall quality of data, helping the organization ensure the highest possible quality across vendors, down to the individual attribute level. Quality and downstream demand can be measured by vendor, date, asset type, attribute and system, with UIs configurable to show time-series views of vendor quality and request history over time.

Centralization & Lineage

EDM centralizes vendor data requests so they can be controlled and monitored from a single point, supporting analysis of duplicate or unnecessary requests and reducing the number sent externally. Underpinning audit and lineage capabilities provide a complete view of data from acquisition through matching, quality rules, distribution and usage, with access permissions grantable at both the system and individual level.

The solution allows us to focus on more strategic work. We are now able to manage the exceptions rather than all the manual heavy lifting we were having to do before the switch. It meant that we were able to manage a broader estate of recs ourselves without involving IT and tech experts from the previous vendor.

Frequently asked questions

How is data usage tracked over time?

Our data model covers all asset classes and cross-references between different instrument taxonomies.

Can metrics be tracked across different data domains?

Yes. Granularity supports metrics tracked across any use case or delivery channel, including ESG, pricing and party data sets.

How does centralizing vendor requests reduce cost?

EDM centralizes vendor data requests so they're controlled and monitored from a single point, making it possible to spot duplicate or unnecessary requests. Cached or mastered data can service a request directly, reducing the number sent externally to a vendo

What audit and lineage capabilities are included?

A complete view of the data is maintained from acquisition through matching, data quality rule application, distribution and usage — with access permissions grantable at both the system and individual level.

How do we see what our data spend is going toward?

Dashboards clearly show costs related to team and departmental data requests, so administrators can recommend lower-cost alternatives.

How long does implementation typically take?

Timelines depend on the number of data domains involved, but most teams have core optimization dashboards live within a single quarter.
